Need Advice Re:bankruptcy

I was declared bankrupt in February 2007. I have been sent a form from the Insolvency practice saying I am eligible for early discharge. Can anyone tell me the pro’s and con’s of this.
On my bankruptcy form I listed my rent arrears (current and pass) however my housing association have said they will not even consider writing off my arrears until I am discharged from my bankruptcy and even then they may refuse. Has anyone had any experience of having rent arrears written off or have they been refused?

I am still getting bills from BT although I have written to them and they were listed on my bankruptcy form. How can I sort this out with them?
I still have not heard from everyone listed on my bankruptcy form yet. If I am discharged early from my bankruptcy can they re-appear demanding that I pay off their debt?
I would greatly appreciate any advice on these matters.

Many Thanks

It's all pro's. If early discharge is being considered, then that means that your IP/OR has concluded their investigation of your affairs and consider that your case is straight forward enough to start this process. Just be aware though that the ED process can get stalled if the OR is busy with other work. Still it is very good news.

Not myself. I seem to remember these being a pain, but can't recall much more than that. Others here will probably know, but if all else fails ask your OR/IP about the status of these debts/arrears post bankruptcy.

Send them a copy of your BR order, or send the correspondence to your OR/IP, or both. If these should have been written of then don't worry too much, they will get the message eventually.

You will not necessarily hear from them yourself. All normal unsecured debts (apart from the few exempt ones) are included in your bankruptcy. The only effect of being discharged is that the debts become legally discharged as well. These creditors cannot now claim anything back from you except through the OR/IP. Occasionally a few will chance their luck hoping you are ignorant of your rights and the law, but just tell these where to go and ignore any threats as they are now toothless.

    Hope that helps.:)
