The large eggs for 69p.
These eggs are getting smaller!
They are only medium to small.
What is the Trading Standards rule on egg sizes?

"Weight grades of eggs
Only the following weight grades are permitted for eggs - no other terms may be used to describe the weights of eggs on retail sale:
- XL or Very Large are eggs from 73g upwards
- L or Large are eggs from 63-73g
- M or Medium are eggs from 53-63g
- S or Small are eggs below 53g"
I have noticed recently in ASDA that they are selling eggs of mixed weights giving only the total weight of the contents of the box.

Still a real bargain for just 69p. I'm assuming that is for a pack of six.You may question anything I say. Just be polite, otherwise you go straight on to my Ignore List, which funds a good old fashioned knees-up every Xmas. Cheers;)0 -
I keep chickens, bantams and ducks in my rear garden.
My understanding is that if I sell any eggs, I should not grade them but sell them as mixed sizes.
Still, they are more free-range than caged or barn poultry! - and they are more pets than livestock.:)0 -
I bought a box of 15 of their eggs for £1.00 today. It says, different sizes on the packaging. I would say they could all be classed as large. I appreciate they will vary, but a good box for me.MSE Addiction, should come with a health warning:money:0

I read that when hens first start laying, their eggs are smaller and including these in boxes rather than separating eggs out into sizes saves money. The farmer/egg packer doesn't have to pay a person/operate a machine to size eggs and the money saved means they can sell the eggs at a lower price.
Really cheap eggs are unlikely to be British and they may be imported from cage bird flocks. The other thing to bear in mind is that British supermarkets now allow non-organic chickens to be fed GM feed/crops and the eggs don't need to be labelled as coming from GM fed hens (I checked with DEFRA myself).0
