Wednesday 27th November - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

    Secret party? Ooooh, where?
Can't really call this an MSE day as it's vet day for cat, which means settling the 3rd of our big unplanned bills this month. Haven't heard how he's getting on, yet. OK, I hope.
    Today's small things:
-Got £41's worth of free food by using Sainsbo's nectar points & Co-op dividend points to stock up on festive provisions.
-Coffee & scone in cafe courtesy of my Mum :-)
-Do rubber ham to use up the hock I cooked on Mon.
-Make stock using ham bone & a tub of bits I've been saving.
    -Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
-Mr f making cauliflower cheese tonight to use up mad amount of cauli I cooked last night.
-Step up mouse catching strategy as he's now helped himself to pasta & oats. Lots of food in the pantry this time of year, which has not been bought to feed the local rodent population!
-Write more Christmas cards, as I will be seeing people from this weekend. I'd normally post them all, as I know I love to get post, but at 50p per card 2nd class postage, I'm only posting those where I have no other option. My personal view is that ecards just don't feel the same......plus, you can't use them for craft afterwards.
-Laundry done overnight on Economy 7, 30 deg, scroogey powder. Will go on heated airer when cheaper tariff kicks in again.
-No heating on at the moment.
Ziggy - everyone either v busy, v fed up or you & I have turned into a couple of billy no-mates, lol xx

  • Happy Wednesday peoples :D.

I was hoping to make it a no spend day, but Mr MNM needed some dental work. And we ran out of bread, eggs and tomatos so there went that. However, I've still:

    1. Checked my bank statement against my expense manager app and all is good. I've been working out how to get the most out of it, which as it turns out, is quite a bit.
    2. Made all food from scratch, except some dove cake bars...very yummy.
    3. Practised guitar.
    4. Meditated.
    5. Took the pooch for a walk in the forrest.
    6. Organsied Christmas dinner - turns out our local pub can do it better and cheaper than we can! All that and NO washing up.
    7. Organised our grocery shopping for Friday. We're even able to click and collect with ASDA, saving us the petrol for a second trip into town on Saturday.
    8. Got some brand new TV to watch tonight.
    9. Came here to motivate myself and remind myself WHY saving money is important. And it really, really is important. Especially if you like shelter, clothes and food.

    Enjoy your afternoon, peace all.
Debt as of March 2018, £794 rent arrears £4273.7 debt, £900.70 in pay day loans, total £5968.40 . Total debt today £5968.40
