Proof of deposit - How?

Everything is going well for our house purchase so far.

Today the solicitor called and has asked for proof of depoist and a gift letter from parents.

My mum has transferred the money to my account and written and signed a letter that it is a gift and does need repaying.

So how should I show the solicitor my proof of deposit as it will be another month until I get a bank statement through the post. Would it be okay to do a print screen on my online banking showing the current balance?

You can go in to your bank and ask them for a statement I believe, at the cost of £5 - £10.

    We can't say.

Solicitors and lenders have their own requirements set down for stuff like this and all we can do is obtain what we're asked to get, in the format we're asked to get it.

Typically, an internet print will only be accepted if it contains;-

    the account details
the name and address of the account holder
the logo of the institution concerned
the URL bar (https:// etc) printed on the bottom.

Check with solicitor to see what it requires.

Most banks will print a mini-statement for free - certainly both Lloyds and Halifax did for me,

    Thanks

Just phoned and it turns out it needs to have my name and balance on it. The Nationwide mini statement does not show my name :(

Don't assume anything. Best to ask your solicitor for the exact requirement.

Ok, so earlier you said "it needs to have my name and balance on it", now it's "she doesn't really know"...?

Which bank are you with? When I printed off statements (not mini statements) to show the mortgage company they had my name, address and transaction history for the month.

Im with Nationwide. I can print off statements from the archive which have my full name and address - but the current month will only show as a mini statement without a name and address - on the 19th Dec this will become a full statement but I cannot wait that long.
