Paying off our forever house...

Have been saving money on food lately, been cooking from scratch instead of buying ready meals. And I have been eating the same as what the kids have been eating instead of something else.
Also just started getting home delivery with asda..
Don't know why we haven't done it sooner.
But next year we are going to spend less on our food shopping..
As it's the one bill I know we spend too much on..£176,000 January 20140 -
Right starting to new year by keeping up with this diary,
January 1st NSD
January 2nd will be a NSD because I am not going out today..
Going to ikea tomorrow so will need to spend something, not going because I need anything just because my mums needs a trip out, and my kids love it there..
Hope I don't spend to much,I tend to spend between £30 and £60.£176,000 January 20140 -
Just wanted to say hi. We also just got a high mortgage for our forever house. Sometimes you just have to weigh up the pros and cons and go for it. Well every day makes us a bit better off so try to think of it that way. Also having a NSD. If I go out its just going to be to the park! Have a nice day xLife is short be happy0

Just thought I would update.
Should be exchanging on our new house next week and hopefully move in by the end of the month..
So excited keep driving past it and thinking there's my new house..
But doesn't feel quite like our house yet..
I am so looking forward to getting this big new mortgage down..
But not sure how much we will be able to overpay by yet as the house needs a bit of work doing on it.£176,000 January 20140 -
Exciting! Enjoy moving into your new place. I'm in my forever house, too, and I really like the settled feeling of knowing this is mine now for the foreseeable future.Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

Congrats!
We are in a similar situation. Our old mortgage was around 30k and the new one is around 160K. We moved in Dec and not planning on moving again - it's the perfect house for our growing family. Am planning to have it paid off in 5 years so have got some serious saving to do. Like you I always spend too much of the food bill so that needs to be addressed. One thing that I didnt factor in before moving was that our utilities would be ALOT higher. The new house has double to floorspace of the old one, lots of fancy kitchen gadgets, large windows, 17 radiators and about a million spotlights. All brilliant until the bills come! I work from home so have bought an oil filled radiator to warm to room I work in instead of heating the whole house and have invested in goose down duvets which has made a huge difference to the warmth getting into bed at night!MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j
