My first BR report

Hi everyone, filed yesterday so here is my report.

Arrived at the court at 09.45, a pleasant security chap told me where to wait & showed me where the loo was, I needed that!

Then on the dot of 10.00 he said go through there & speak to the lady at the desk. She asked if I had my forms & the money, I handed them over & she told me to hang on to the money....for now! She said take a seat & the court clerk will be with you shortly, less than 10 min's later a lovely lady took us ( They allowed my OH to come in with me ) in a private room, she asked if I had taken advice? & had I arranged another bank account? I said yes I had been to the CAB on several occasions & that I had opened a basic bank account a few months ago, she then said I will just go & see the Judge & left the room, came back within 5 minutes with my BR reference number, the OR's contact details & the forms stamped with a copy for me.

She then explained that the OR's office would contact me within a couple of days.

She then said that was it & to go back to the desk & pay the lady & to have a nice day!

Paid the money, got a receipt, AND THAT WAS THAT!

As I said at the beginning, it may differ from court to court, like I had rang the court previously to find out how many copies of the forms I needed & was told only 1, so check with your own court first.

Now I wait for the OR's interview, will keep you updated.:)

    Hello there,

Thanks for keeping us updated. Did you find the process a little underwhelming? We've had plenty of clients expecting a fair about of scrutiny - only to find the process incredibly simple.

    best wishes,

    David.

  • Hi David

Yes completely differant to what I was expecting. Had ten minutes with the judge who went through my paperwork and a general chat and it was done. Took the forms back to the clark and they said I could go. Ot was actually more stressful trying to arrange a date or get in contact with someone at the courts.
The one other thing I would say to other pre BR go down to the court and check out before where you have to go, so much easier then just walking in.

    Hello there.

That's great advice. Each court may have their own procedure, so it's worth finding out what to do in advance if possible.

    Best wishes,

    David.
