edit: sorry to have to do this. but jacques chirac is probably correct. I'm removing any information about them from here and refrain from talking about client.

Was having an insomniac evening up until 5 and dribbled on a bit too much

We don't use social media from company equipment; the exception for my team is LinkedIn where we can view profiles as part of our research but not post anything. I don't identify the company I work for in anything I do outside work; why would I? We do have strict policies about treating company and client information as confidential. Maybe Facebook is on the wane, or people have chosen to use fake names on there? Not a bad idea really.

  • Have worked for many global companies and never heard any of them having policies preventing people having their own social media pages though obviously publishing negative things about their employers is something that is often banned.

I suspect you are just more coming up against privacy settings than anything else. Increasingly people are setting their profiles so that others cannot find them unless they are friends or friends of friends.

LinkedIn is different but then that depends on what type of work you are in. Very few contractors/ consultants dont have a profile there but on the flip side very few call centre agents do

the company in question has very "sensitive" clients. It was really interesting.

That may explain it, when I worked for a certain University we had a number of sensitive clients, I had to chase a certain huge organisation for payment, when I rang the number, a guy answered "Bob here", I chased the debt and a week later a personal cheque from Bob arrived, which I found odd as it was a bill of over 110k and whilst we did do work for individuals it was very rare for the bill to exceed 10k.
  • This is the second thread you have posted about this company. You have not given any information that would allow an outsider to identify them, but given their sensitivities I doubt they would be impressed if they realised you were posting about them, however innocent your intentions are. I would be much more careful, if you want them to use your services again.

I use a different name online to what is my real name, whether that has anything to do with previously working in a large corporation or not, I have no idea. I might just like to keep my work life seperate to my online persona or I might be paranoid ;) , I've certainly never been 'forced' to do it that way.

Just searched on Google under my real name, 5 pages in and not found myself yet!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
