provident loan

Hello everyone

Please can you help me with provident

Last Friday when I made a payment and noticed they had changed the amount I had to pay to 400 yes that is right but as the credit agreement says Amount to Pay is 320 and says I only have to pay 320 I contacted the agent and they admitted the error and told me to contact the manager which I did but he only fobbed me off saying it was an admin error and would do nothing about it, is that right or do I stick to the 320 as the agreement states I've no idea what to do

many thanks

Are you saying you borrowed £320 and they have made a mistake and say that the total amount to be paid is £320, instead of £400.

Or did you borrow another amount say £280 and the agreement says to pay back £320, when it should have been £400.
  • Hi thanks for the reply

No I borrowed 250 at 12.50 for 32 weeks now that does work out to be 400 but the agreement states I only have to pay back 320 the error I've been making the payments but noticed the change in the book from last Friday I would post the img but cant atm

I'm no expert, so it's just my opinion but if the agreement states £12.50 for 32 weeks, then I don't think you will be able to pay £320 in total, as it's clearly an arithmetic error.

Hopefully someone more experienced in this type of issue, will be able to give you definite advice, so do stick around.

If you wish to take it further, then you would have to go through their complaints procedure, then if you are not happy, contact the financial ombudsman.

If they are likely to make bad marks on your credit file, for non payment etc, then you might be best continuing to pay, while the complaint is being processed. That way you don't get the black marks, because obviously there is always a chance you won't win the case.

Just make sure you keep any relevant documents and as I say stick around, I'm sure someone can give you decent advice.
