Natwest Upped My payments!
panholio
I have had my mortgage, which is fixed, with Natwest now for 4 months.
On checking my online banking statement last Friday, which I do daily, I noticed my mortgage payment (on a direct debit) has gone up by about £25ish.
That's strange I think, I haven't had a letter or anything explaining this. So I ring them up and they tell me that they "forgot to add the high lending charge on initially" and that "the payment has gone up to reflect this". No letter, no explanation, nothing. I say to the chap on the phone that I'm pretty miffed that Natwest have taken more money out of my account than they told me they would without any letter or explanation and he agrees he would be too.
He says he will get someone to call me back and explain what is going on and I leave my mobile and home telephone number. Here we are nearly a week later and I have heard nothing. My home phone and mobile both record numbers that have called if I miss any and they have not called me.
Where do I go from here? I'm thinking of writing a letter.
Are they allowed to just change payments on a fixed agreement wily nilly with no warning?
Thanks in advance!

Write that complaint letter NOW. The DD scheme is set-up specifically to avoid thie situation you describe. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0

Have written a letter, I'm thinking of copying it to BACS who from what I can gather from a google search operate the direct debit scheme and the FSA.
Worth doing on this letter?0
