DigiFusion FVRT100 freeview box recorder (refurb), 40gb, twin tuners - £39 from MD

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(16874)DigiFusion-FVRT100-FreeView-Set-Top-Box-with.aspx

At this price you normally only get a regular freeview box with no recording facilities.
Now you can buy one for the bedroom or 2nd tv.

This model did have problems with the original power supplies but it seems like these refurbushed models (6 months warranty) have a newer supply.

For those techies out there, the firmware is upgradeable with lots of information on the internet.

Read the reviews at the bottom of the description (click link) to see what buyers thought.

(The price is a special offer and may go up soon)

There is a long thread already about this.
  • Quick summary of this unit;

Some people get lucky and it works well.

I didn't, I had one from Comet about 18 months ago. Kept locking up, required unplugging from mains to sort itself out. After 6 months it locked up and refused to work again. Went back for a refund.

When it worked it was good, but was too unreliable for the price at the time (£145). At £39 I'd be tempted to try it again.
  • This unit is better as the power supply has been upgraded (the cause of alot of the original problems.) The price of the 80Gb units (Fvrt150 / FVRT200) varies at microdirect - if when you come to buy theyre only a tenner more then I would suggest going with them.

I`ve had one of these for about 2 years. It used to lock up but i changed the power supply and it`s been great since then, I`ve also upgraded the hard drive, it`s got 120 gig in there now :D

This company are shaping up to be the worst i have ever dealt with

I sent mine back as tuner 2 was faulty straight out the box. They received it last friday and emailed to say a replacement would be sent out asap. They advised me by email when they received it they would refund my postage costs of returning it, this hasnt yet happened.

They said one would be sent out as soon as they had stock and it would be treated as urgent. Stock went on their website on weds and i have not yet been told mine has been dispatched. I have emailed them 3 times since Monday and had no response.

This means someone ordering on weds will receive Thursday or friday and im still waiting.

They also didnt post my negative review, take the reviews on site as one sided

Looks like they value further sales over customer service.

I have since called them and to their credit were quite good on the phone.

Refunding my postage costs and the cost of the item as ive lost faith.

At first he thought id ordered the fvr200 and told me they have had loads of these returned and the recent batch of the refurbished 200's were in " some state "

    So avoid the fvr 200's
  • I've found microdirect to be OK with returns. (Unlike Aria who I avoid because of problems I've had with returning stiff.)

I should say this is returning stuff in person as I work not too far away.
