I've seen various pages online that touch on tribunal awards and lawyer costs to employers but I'm really curious about whether they right in people's experience.
Do tribunals for unfair dismissal on average award around 1-2k?
Are the average employers costs for lawyers really above 2k?
What sort of figures are common in settlements, and is it usually more than people get awarded at tribunal?
Sorry for the newbie questions but you seem like a knowledgeable bunch!

Averages are averages are averages.
I can guess why you are asking. As you can probably gather each case has to be taken on its merit and no two cases are exactly the same.
If you are trying to work out what compensation should be asked for and what might be expected then, what should be asked for is based on a formula.
What might be expected is based on the facts of the case and the judge's mood on the day

It's gone beyond just working out what to ask and now become sheer nosyness I think!Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

In that case, my legal costs amounted to far, far, far more than the average you quote.
My award was the statutory cap plus, basic award and PILON.
But, my case took some years to finish. And, it was complex due to some discriminatory aspects of the case. And, I was found to be absolutely blameless in my dismissal.
There's a case recently quoted on MSE where the claimants got about £1,500 each. They represented themselves.
The record, I believe, is a case relating to a doctor from Leeds who got an award circa £4m. That again involved discrimination and a smoking gun with regard to evidence. Her employer disclosed a written memo from a meeting stating they were out to get her because she was foreign and or pregnant!!! Some people never learn.
But, when you look at her award it was based on the fact a mid 40s woman would never work again as a medical consultant due to the severe mental trauma she suffered as a result of her treatment. Half the award was the tax element after grossing up, and a quarter was the pension element.
So, as you can see, it can be all over the place.0 -
It's still not a huge amount people receive in comparison to actual wages then!Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.
