Is it too soon to make fudge for Christmas.?

As the title say really,I plan on making and giving some fudge to friends. It's a job I'd like to get ticked off my list particularly as it might take a few attempts to get it god enough.
Apparently you can keep it in the fridge for a fe weeks , but I won't have room. My dining room is very cold though and I wondered if five weeks in there would be ok?
Also, I've been googling looking for crumbly fudge recipes, I don't know which to go for, so if you have a fairly fail safe recipe for a nice soft but crumbly fudge would you be kind enough to share.
Thanks.

I've had a look around and the general advice is two to three weeks in an airtight container out of direct heat or sunlight.

I have to admit, I'd have thought that it would be ok for a month, but best to make it less time then that in advance as the chances are it wouldn't be eaten at once with all the food that is around at Christmas.

Waxed paper is good to use to line the packing box etc.
