massive increase in spam since taking out sainsburys loan

Three weeks ago we took out a Sainsburys bank loan for some house renovations. We decided on Sainsburys following info on this site. The loan came through very quickly, but since then I have had a massive increase in spam texts and cold calls to my mobile. I used to get perhaps one a fortnight, now it's up to 4 a day! I asked one of the cold callers where they got my name and number. They asked if I had used any price comparison websites and the only one I had used was this one! Besides I certainly didn't put my name & number into any document apart from the loan application! Is this perhaps how Sainsburys is financing loans at cheaper rates..by selling on our data?

may there was a box saying "please untick if you don't want Sainsburys to pass on details to other recommended sites"? And you missed it.

I doubt this is anything to do with Sainsburys.

Although I have seen spam from Sainsburys.

It's normally between the corned beef and the Fray Bentos pies.

These companies sell your details to other companies, that's why there is normally a box saying "No, I do not want to be contacted by other companies" or something similar.

Banks rarely if ever sell customer details to third parties unless the third party is supplying a product branded as the bank's own.
