Out of curiosity and boredom I googled my real name and nickname to see what, if anything, popped up.

I was amazed to see links on there to some of my posts on this website (and another I belonged to). I entered another user's name and some of their links came up too.

I thought I'd mention it as I know some people talk about very personal information/situations that they don't want the whole world knowing about, now they just possibly could :eek:. I'm just so surprised!!

I did know this, I found out by accident a couple of years ago, this is why I always choose usernames which aren't unique, a band name for example. I suppose though the chances of someone actually googling someones username is a bit remote. Why would they bother? If they knew who you are and what your username is they would just do a search here, I would have thought.

I wasnt, but i just tried it with google ........ the first 60 results (at least) can be linked to me!!!

I have googled my real name before and it comes up with my name and the date that i passed my driving test as AA display the details on their website!!

My user name didn't find any links one the first page - then I got fed up looking

I share a real name with an actress, there's nothing unique about me, google my name and you have to get to page 6zillion to find what I've been up to.

I have been considering changing my surname as am long since divorced, and was thinking about an old Family name that I love. So I googled my current name, and got a 1980's !!!!!! star!! So.............I googled my prospective new name and got......another 1980's !!!!!! star!!!.........who made a film with............the original one!!! OOer!!!!
