Help please (if possible)?

Hey,

New to the forum, and would like to ask advice as this seems to be the place to ask about bankruptcy issues and actually get a relevant answer!

I went bankrupt a number of years ago (2008 if my memory serves me right) and was discharged after 6 months. I've recently signed up to Noddle to check my credit report after being turned down for a mobile phone contract and have noticed a number of issues relating to credit in my past. I've checked some of the stickies within the forum about sending letters to ex-creditors due to 'default' payments and I think this will help.

The only issue I have with continuing down this route is that I have separated from my partner who I was with during my bankruptcy and due to the lack of organisation I am no longer in possession of my bankruptcy papers or discharge notice. Is there a way to get a copy of the papers?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi - if you look on the insolvency register you should be able to find yourself which should give you at least your BR number. A certificate of discharge can be obtained from the court you went bankrupt at but there is a fee (£80 I think?)
  • sadly wont be on the insolvency register...you dissapear from that 6mnths after your date of discharge

can you remember your Official Receivers office who dealt with your bankruptcy?? sometimes they've been known to provide proof of discharge for free (if you ask nicely!) otherwise as gardner said you can ask the court you petitioned at back in 2008 they will charge (around 70-80 quid) BUT can be also free if your on certain benefits

    Hope that helps :D:D

  • Looks like my OR office is Hull according to the Insolvency Service website, I'll give them a call if only for advice and hopefully get a copy of my discharge notice.

I suppose it won't hurt to ask if my ex-partner may still have the papers somewhere as I believe they may have been left at her address.

Thanks a million for the advice, it's really appreciated I now have a starting point rather than wandering blindly!
  • If OR's office cant help contact the court you attended..I was missing a few bits and liverpool's court office sent me a few bits free of charge
