Anyone Applied to YBS Recently

After withdrawing from a previous sale, for which I had an application with Accord, I had been told I could keep the Accord product and just apply for a change of product. It now transpires that this is not possible (as the original product does not exist and I am going to be borrowring more for the new property I agreed on.) The best 5 year fixed rate I could find was a YBS mortgage, and I had a meeting with one of their agents in branch (not YBS, but they sit in the branch). However he is on vacation for some time and I am in a hurry to move along so I had a 2 hr initial check with YBS online. They said they would know about the credit check tomorrow or latest on Monday and then I would be asked to put in the formal application. Has anyone had recent experiences with YBS and especially applying online? Have they been efficient and have they been swift? Everyone I have spoken with so far has been very clear and helpful, and I am positively inclined. HOwever I do trust the MSE community more than my gut instincts so any feedback would be hugely appreciated!! Thank you.

I went with them in March, was a delay in getting the survey done but that wasn't their fault (local surveyor was sick) but they got it sorted when I chased it.0

One of the worst lenders I have come across, they are in the business of making money from application fees. Approach with caution. Just my opinion.0

Just to counter these comments, all my dealings with them would lead me to say the opposite.
I've just completed on a house after withdrawing from another house prior to exchange some time back. All done on the same YBS mortgage offer, and the fuss involved in moving the offer from the first property to second was minimal - I filled a form in, and that was that. I've spoken to them lots along the way - always friendly, always helpful. And that's without mentioning the wonderful rate on the 10 year fix I've got which, incidentally, came with a £0 application fee.0 -
I last used them at the beginning of the year. That was the first time i used them after avoiding them for 18 months. I wont be making the same mistake again, i will be avoiding them for a hell of a longer than 18 months in future.
I would not touch these jokers with a barge pole.
I had a perfectly straight forward case with 1 minor issue (the client had a 2nd property) that was discussed well in advance of submitting the case and i was no told it wasnt a problem.
It all went down hill from there.
If its a case of using them or losing the business i would 99 times out of 100 rather lose the business because it is really not worth the hassle using them.
Admittedly it was Accord which is a subsidiary of YBS but still the same process.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Ah, but I asked this because I was trying to decide if I should abandon my supposedly "transferable" Accord mortgage (on a purchase I pulled out of earlier) or whether I should go with YBS for a longer term fixed for which they had the better rates. And I have to say Accord is exactly as you describe, truly AWFUL. Nothing they told me turned out to be reliable, they took forever arranging everything, and, as a customer, you cannot really deal with them directly either. YBS so far has been the opposite- there are the odd hiccups here and there (ie lots of mistaes in the form I got sent after completing the application on the phone, but then I was prepared to fix things and they had said to review the document carefully) but I cannot fault them certainly for customer service and making up for their mistakes as they go along. Fingers crossed it continues like this... But I have learned that Accord and YBS are most definitely different companies in terms of your experience as a customer.I last used them at the beginning of the year.
