Halifax mortgage process

I have just been through a broker after my offer on a property was accepted. The broker after looking through my credit history then proposed Halifax as my best bet.
I was asked to provide original copies of my payslips, address history, p60 etc which I have done, just tonite the broker left a voice message to say he used the word ' I have keyed in all the details and the good news is that the decision in principle was accepted, so by Monday I shall be sending all documentations to Halifax with my supporting notes'
Does these mean I have passed the credit check stage or is this just another case of soft print check?
If yes to the above would I still be credit checked again by Halifax themselves
I presume all brokers now have a system linked with each lenders now
Any advise is most welcome please
Thanks

You have gone through the first stage, you can expect some more detailed checks to take place up to mortgage offer. I was credit checked 3 times with Nationwide at AIP stage, offer stage and releasing the money.

full app you will be searched also.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Has he only keyed the DIP, or has he keyed the full application?

If you have a property agreed, solicitor etc, he would normally be doing the full application now.

Did he request and take card details for the valuation fee?

    King street,
I have a solicitor and price agreed on a property. He also took my card details for valuation ( though he said that won't be necessary as am buying in Scotland). I also signed Halifax form when I took my documentation to him earlier in the week.
He used the sentence ' the DIP has gone through and I will be sending supporting documentation alongside with my notes to Halifax on Monday'

TBH that doesn't give much away.

You go through the DIP process as you complete a full application, so you get an accept before you continue to the property, solicitor and insurance details.

At the end, you confirm payment of any fees and the full application is then submitted and any supporting documentation faxed to the lender, based on what's requested on the "Next Steps" screen.

So you could say you've passed the DIP if you stopped at that stage, or you could say you passed the DIP at full application, although I would not explain it that way.

Thanks so much Kingstreet, for your explanation.

Just the last one please, if a DIP is passed at full application and what is left is just faxing of supporting documentations, would Halifax conduct another credit check/ search from there end as well ?

Between DIP and completion, a number of checks can be done at any time. That's why you are routinely advised not to apply for new credit, or anything else requiring a credit search between application and completion.

Halifax samples about 8.5% of its cases (1 in 12) to audit the information on the application and submitted (and sometimes additional) docs to ensure case quality and legitimacy.
