Mortgage provider need certified copy of marriage certificate - who will do this?

Hi,

We sent a copy of our marriage certificate to our mortgage provider, and when my name didn't change on letters etc, I contacted them , to be told they hadn't accepted it as it needed to be a certified copy - good of them to let me know!
They advised me to go to my bank to get this done, but I went in today (Halifax) and they no longer do certifying of documents.

Where else can I go to get this done and how much can we expect to pay?

Thank you

Is your mortgage with Halifax? Go into a branch of whoever your mortgage is with?

Some solicitors do not charge as they see it as a way to get more business in the future.

Our mortgage provider is Future Mortgages, not a bank. They have no branches.

    sorry £7.15!
  • Just been on the Royal Mail website and they do indeed do an ID checking service.
Hope the mortgage company will accept their stamp :-) Thank you

Get your own bank or even solicitor todo it
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • Have you spoken to your conveyancer? Our conveyancer required certified copies of all our ID documents, which were certified by a partner solicitor at the practice our conveyancer works at. Whilst doing these, she did us some extra certified copies for our lender too, no charge.

It's just a name change for an existing mortgage, there is no new purchase, nor mortgage, so there is no conveyancer.

That's one of the most useful things I've ever read on this site! I thought you had to take docs to a solicitor to get a certified copy. :money:
