Selling Jewellery

Hi, I am not sure if this is the best place to post this but couldnt find anywhere more relevant.
I have recently left an old job and taken significant pay cut in a new role, this has highlighted to me just how excess some of my spending has been!
To pay off the small amount of debt I have, I am considering selling some jewellery that I hardly use.
What is the best way to sell diamond jewellery? To a shop or would it perhaps be better to use a pawnbroker and then not repay the loan?
Thanks!

Hi Scarlett
What is the jewellery - if it's gold now would probably be a good time to sell.
Here is a gold calculator https://www.tescogoldexchange.com/gold-calculator.aspx?weight=30&carat=18&ref=quote
Do not use those gold websites!!
If you are near hatton garden you could go to each shop and see how much they would give you - then go back to the shop that would give you the best price.
I sold some gold there two years ago and got over 1k for it.
Good luck0 -
The jewellery is one pair of diamond earrings and diamond and white gold bracelet

Do you know the weight? If so - use an online calculator to get an idea of what you could expect to get for it.
A pawnbroker would massively undercut you for what it's worth so I wouldn't suggest that.
If you can get a ticket to London for the day (make a day of it) then give hatton garden a visit - its their trade so they wont rip you off.
Best of luck

Definitely not to a pawnbroker and then not repay the loan. On pawnbroking they generally lend only a low % of the value of an item (perhaps around 30%).
Do you have any idea of the value? have you ever had them valued?
I'd start by going to an independant jewellers local to you (or more than 1) to ask them if they are able to value the items for you and ask if they buy second hand jewellery.
Edit If it is valuble then maybe try a specialist jewellery auction.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
