İ have an old amp that i would dearly love to use in some way but İ am confused as to what i can plug into it....can i run things like mp3s/phones through it?...İ used to run a cd player through the aux!
Also i live in Turkey and speakers are horrendous prices but the speakers they use for TV surround sounds are much cheaper and wonder if i can use these....the amp is rated at 40w.
sorry to sound naive but ...modern technology has past me by!!

If the mp3 has a 3.5mm headphone socket you can use one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-5m-3-5mm-Jack-to-2-x-RCA-Phono-Audio-Cable-Gold-Lead-/160600769096?pt=UK_Computing_Sound_Vision_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item25648d42480

It's an amplifier. You connect a line-level source (CD player, tuner, cassette deck, MP3 player or similar) to its inputs, and a pair of speakers to the output.
There's no other 'uses' it can be put to, unless I've missed something about your question....0 -
Yup, anything that can be turned into stereo phono can plug into your amp. This includes a PC, laptop or TV, as well as the examples above Exception being a record player, it needs a pre-amp, but maybe your amp has one - if there's a 'phono, Mag PU or record player' input, don't plug anything into except a record player, it's much more sensitive than the rest.
Any ancient speakers you can find can be used, they haven't changed, there's just a + and - wire. Connect them + on amp to + on speaker.0
