Cycling London Victoria to Exhibition road

I get the train to Victoria everyday and the tube is getting a bit annoying.
I am thinking of cycling from Victoria to Exhibition road
A) What is like carrying a bike on a Southern Eastern train to Victoria?
Is this route safe?
Any other thoughts.

I think you will find that full-size bikes are banned on the trains in the morning

You can take folding bikes on the train. There's also the Barclays Bikes that you can pick up at Victoria and drop off on Exhibition Road. £2 daily release fee, and the 1st half hour of each bike is free.

It's a short journey, so cycling will certainly be more cost-effective than getting the tube. Since you can't take bikes on the train during peak hours, an annual Boris Bike membership might be the best option - it's £90, so assuming you use the bike at least 3 times a week for at least 4 months, annual membership works out cheaper than pay as you go.
Cyclestreets is great for planning a route across town as it shows you the most direct route, but also quieter routes. You could try using a hire bike for a week and see if it works out for you.
As you're working in Kensington & Chelsea you're entitled to free cycle training which is worth doing whether you're an experienced cyclist or just getting back on your bike. They can help you plan a route and ride it with you to show you how to deal with any tricky junctions.2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -
