I'm sure I remember reading something similar to your story about a year or so ago, someone won tickets to a festival in Wales but had to pay booking fee and accommodation charges, and it would have cost them hundreds of pounds.

Just read through some of the other replies and that seems to confirm it. It looks like they offer "runners up prizes" to people to try and fill the event. I'd steer clear if I were you xxx

I won Hammerfest tickets a couple of years ago and the email was similar to yours (but not identical as I didn't have any codes to input on the website.)

However, the email did state the bit about accommodation and we had to turn it down as we just couldn't afford to go and I didn't have the energy to fight the company. :(

I also 'won' this for the Sci-Fi weekend in Wales next year. Same email-same issue with booking fees & accommodation. I didn't accept the 'prize.' It definitely looks like an attempt to make money and not actually a win at all!

I won a runner up prize for a festival in Wales earlier this year, exactly the same wording as your email.

Considering there were only meant to be six runners up, I counted at least fifteen people posting that they had won on here, their facebook page and another comp site. As far as I'm concerned it's a total con just to fill places and get people to pay a lot of money to stay in a caravan park.
