I am a bit bored of the same old veg being cooked in the same old boring way.
I normally boil broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, peas. How else can i cook it? I dont have a steamer, so cant steam.

do you own a metal colander ? Could you rig it up as a steamer ?
Other than that, roasted cauliflower is nice, and if you cook carrots in stock, butter & tsp sugar until stock reduces it makes them lovely & sticky (my variation on vichy carrots)"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -

How about stir frying it?
Sometimes we bung it all in a roasting pan with onion and spuds, it can take a little longer than normal to cook but well worth it.
Lightly fry it or par cook (especially carrots) and simmer in passata or tinned tomatoes with herbs of your choice. I tend to bung in whatever takes my fancy. Last time it was ginger marmalade and balsamic vinegar!0 -
I must admit, I love my Tefal steamer. In it today is cabbage, carrots and broccoli. In the oven is roast potatoes.
I sometimes do a one pot meal in the slow cooker. I put in loads of root veg along with the meat and sauce.
Roast veg is also a favorite. roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots onion and peppers. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -

You can roast any root vegetable and cauli is also lovely.
Saute (lightly fry) courgettes, caulis and mangetout.
Peas can be sauted in butter with a lettuce and served a l'anglaise (allow to cook very slowly)
Alternatively, heat the peas for a little while, add some pesto and then either cottage cheese or creme fraiche and serve with pasta.
How about frittatas?
Glazed carrots cooked in stock with oil/butter and a little sugar.
Finely sliced or grated cauli or carrot make great salads.
Nordic cookery includes a number of ways of cooking cauliflower in whey or buttermilk.
And you can stir-fry all of these.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I have a metal basket steamer that slots into any size of saucepan. Along the lines of this It's brilliant and steaming definitely retains more colour and vitamins than boiling.
Roasted veg are delicious too if you have the oven on for something else.
These threads may help:

oodles of carrots great roasted with butter or with added honey.
Cauliflower? Recipe please cauliflower cheese is the obvious one, but it also makes fabulous soup.

I've tried steaming but I don't think it gets the veg as hot as I like.
I boil swede and potatoes but other veg (cauli, carrots, broccoli, sprouts), I put them in a glass dish with about 3 tablespoons of water, cover with clingfilm (make sure you put a few fork holes into it) and cook for 5/6 mins. It's so easy.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

I don't know if you like red cabbage, but this is how I cook it:
melt some butter in a frying pan (that has a lid)
Add the thinly sliced cabbage
fry gently for 3 mins
Add 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar and 3 tablespoons of water
put the lid on
leave it for 1 min, then turn the heat off, leave the lid on for another 4-5 mins or so and it will steam.
You can add bacon if you like!
I also do the same with green cabbage, but use white wine vinegar.0 -

You can steam in an ordinary saucepan as long as it has a tight fitting lid.
Chop your carrots, or similar, into batons. Once rinsed add a tablespoon or two of water and put on the hob on the lowest heat with the lid on tight.
The water will turn to steam and cook your veg. It'll take less time and less gas also.
If you want to ring the changes with flavour then once they're cooked pour off any excess water and add a knob of butter, turn up the heat and glaze the veg for a minute. Or orange juice. Or a handful of herbs.
