I'm considering the skylanders giants starter pack...my 6 year olds have been after skylanders for ages...can anyone advise pls, is it worth holding off and waiting for the swap force set to come down in price or is there not much difference between giants and swap force?? I can't keep up with all these new sets!!! :(

I would wait and get Swap Force the reason Giants is going cheap is because it is the older game and the figures for it are getting harder and harder to find. Most of the current figures won't work with Giants, only if they are an updated version of an older character. All the old characters will however work with Swap Force so you can pick up the cheaper older figures for it. Skylanders is fun but it can get expensive.

Thank you. Those were my thoughts as well looking at some of the reviews...is it unrealistic for me to think that they would get enough game play for now just using the figures that come with it..or do you need to buy new figures from the offset..if that makes sense?! Sorry for all the questions this is all new to me!! It was so simple in my day with 'speak and spell' about advanced as it got ;)

They can easily play it with what comes out of the box but the game has different element types and there are areas in the games that can only be opened by a character from that Element type so to do more you need at least one character of each type. Also I remeber in the harder levels you sometimes went through quite a few characters trying to defeat the tougher bosses so having a few more to swap out helps. When we got our 2 the first game for Christmas DH made sure they had one character of each type and that did them for ages, they didn't get more figures until Easter when they got them instead of eggs :)

Thank you Calcot that really helps....I can see this is gonna be expensive!! ;)
  • Ugh, the kids colouring pencils were cheaper on Amazon in September. No go, frustrating. Starting to think the real deals are few and far between

It can get very expensive but they do get a lot of play out of it. My 7 year old got Disney Infinity for his birthday in August and he has still played more with Skylanders. Swap Force is his Christmas present and his Gran has got him a couple of extra figures.
  • The PC Elder Scrolls Anthology is a pretty good deal at £19.99 as the single game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition is £16 on its own and includes the add-ons. Another present for hubby sorted.
Just because your paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you ! :rotfl:

Thought about this onesie - but can I just ask, on (cheaper) onesies are the zips uncovered? The expensive ones are probably lined? Wouldn't that be really cold on your bare bits??
Also not sure if this was ever £60? Only seems to be on sale on Amazon.
