    As for the cat - I'm totally unaffected to be honest by it on reading it, so as it's given me no emotion of my own (either negative or positive) how could I be 'sorry' or anything? How can people here be sorry for some stranger on the internet you've never met and the loss of their cat? Seems very strange to me if you really are and rather bizarre behaviour to be posting about it. That said - I'm bizarre and no-one posting on the internet is normal anyway:rotfl:.

    No, FC, I am sorry for the trouble the aftermath of it has caused, such as how to dispose of the cat. Like prangs on cars, it's something everyone could do without.

    I know I've put it waaaayyy too brutally, and it's not intended in that manner - I couldn't think of any words to say it any more delicately, so I won't try - especially as I know it will be taken in the bit of idiosyncratic humour underneath it that it is intended and you've told me before never to change anything I say so I've taken that literally!:rotfl:

    There we are - all done, the way I was asked, surely can't be any problem with that?:think::rotfl::rotfl: (In other words, yes there is a problem with it!):rotfl:

    I won't say (!) that some people, if they aren't seriously emotionally affected by the loss of the cat, must be lying when they say they're sorry and that they are just attempting to appear to be what is seen as "polite" rather than actually being sorry.

    :eek::eek::eek:After which...
    :rotfl: I need your help folks on the Colgate Deep Sensation toothpaste!
    (:eek: How can I now return to such obsessive trivia as a tube of toothpaste??):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Savy love you loads!

    Hugs to everyone that needs them xx

    Morning all, just whizzed through last 100 pages or so as haven't been able to get on since Wednesday. Nice to see all the respects paid to Mad yesterday (lovely flowers Qoc), and hugs to rose and fc.

    DH had op on Wednesday evening. Obviously he couldn't call me so I rang hospital later to check how he was and was horrified to be put through to the ICU. The nurse was really evasive, kept asking me if the doctor had spoken to me and really wouldn't say much, so I spent a very unhappy night. I rang in the morning and got another nurse who said he'd got a bit of sleep and had managed to get out of bed, so that was slightly reassuring, but I was going up the wall by the time he called me late morning. Fortunately by then he was back on a normal ward and sounded like his usual self, and sent me a pic to reassure me he was ok. He was issuing instructions to his staff at work by the end of the day (thinks I don't know, but I do ;)), so that was also very reassuring. He's been for another procedure this morning, and will need some more, so we are waiting to see how he gets on to get an idea of when he can come home. :)

    He was told this morning that a couple of peeps have died of what he had in recent years, so that was why they were being so thorough. I am so grateful for all the care he has received.
    Hope is not a strategy.

    Savvy :

    The reason people are sorry for FC cat and others is because at some point they have probably lost a pet themselves. Or can look at the pet themselves and imagine the loss.

    When my cat went missing and I feared him dead. I was devastated, nothing else mattered. I thought of how I would miss him. He genuinely makes me feel loved. The relief when he came back was overwhelming I was sobbing.

    This emotional response to animals isn't the way everyone reacts.

    So these virtual strangers that most of us call friends. Cyber or not, who we all spend a great deal of cyber time with. Warrants a response.

    Its the same support we offer whatever the situation. :)
