Social media policy breach

My husband has been through a grievance process at work which was dealt with informally. He thought that things had been resolved, the employer investigating his boss who had failed to offer him adequate support. The employer apologised. Hubby due to return to work and then found that his boss was moving to a new job (new company). Hubby was told by a friend that the boss had tweeted some nasty comments which my hubby thought were insulting to him and his company. He complained and this too was investigated. He has been told sorry again for how it affected him and others. The comments have been removed and the boss has moved to his new job. My hubby feels very anxious about returning to work as the boss had many mates that will know that hubby made a complaint. He has been off work because of illness and all the upset and is dreading going back. There is no other place where he could work.
Is this a breach as the company have apologised again. Just don't know how to help him with this.
Any advice please.

  • What more does he want them to do?

It does come across that 'hubby' needs to man up a tad.

I don't get it - why would your husband complain (and why would the company apologise) for tweets that this ex-boss made? Surely that's not the company's problem (not questioning it being unpleasant/nasty, just don't see how it is the company's problem)?
  • If your husband was going to get anxious and upset about going back to work then why did he complain?

I'm with Jacques, he needs to man up.

Although i'm not sure it can be a policy breech if the person who Tweeted doesn't work there any more.

The manager did wrong - the company dealt with it appropriately. The manager did wrong again and the company did what they could to deal with it. What does he expect them to do - punish people who were not involved on the basis that they might do something? He should reflect on a certain truth - it is remarkable how many of your workplace mates are no longer your mates when you are absent. Why would other people wish to get involved in something that is nothing to do with them, to protect a "mate" who isn't even there anymore, and risk their own positions to do so?
