Likelihood of getting a mortgage?

Hi all
It's been a while since I posted. I'm in a much better position now with everything paid off thanks to the other half and we are looking to buy shortly.

We will have approx £50k as a deposit and looking to buy at approximately 20-220000 house.

When I look at my credit report everything is either marked as 'settled' or 'satisfied' including 3 CCJS. This has been the case for over a year now and I've had no credit checks on my report for this time either.

Do you think I stand a chance of getting a mortgage now, joint with my husband who has a perfect credit score?

If so. Is it best to use a local broker or just search online?

Many thanks

SnS
Some debts are fun when you are acquiring them, but none are fun when you set about retiring them!!! :(

It's amazing how fast later comes when you buy now!!!!

    Certainly do..

What date is the most recent default/ccj?

  • Wahoo!

So latest default was 3/12/2010 and CCJ 18/9/2008

Most of the defaults are circa 2007/8 so will drop over over the next year or two?

Do you think I will still have to be careful or choosy who I go with?

    Thank you

Definitely Choosy, this will not be placed on the high street.

You need an experienced broker, but dates and satisfaction is in your favour...

    Most welcome.

Sometimes free is false economy on adverse lending cases. As an example fee free broker gets you a 6% rate and fee charging broker gets you 4% rate. Feels good as free, but certainly not ideal.

Get advice and then bat past another broker or just throw past us here for opinion..

    Best of luck
