Argos Challenge tool kits (socket sets etc), some less than half price.

Not particularly amazing deals as probably not top quality, but good if you're looking for a full set for occasional home use. I was recently looking at buying one socket bit but after looking at Argos I'm going to buy an entire set with the piece I need.

Best deals.

Just got my set home after reserving it and have found the smaller ratchet handle switch bit at the top doesn't work. Could be a sign of the quality and likely longevity? Hopefully a replacement will sort it but the set had obviously been used and returned. Very annoying that Argos have wasted my time by selling me a product someone else has returned as a dud.

I will be giving the next one a good check over before I leave the store. Unfortunately the store I got it from has none available to reserve so I have reserved one at another store.

The quality looks ok of these. I bought one of their 300 piece tool sets a few weeks back and returned it for being rubbish.

I bought the 68 piece set yesterday, but am going to return it because I found a 107 piece set that I have reserverd (only £10 more)

I went with the xtreme 73 piece set as it clearly states what's in there, plus the fact it uses 1/2" drive and none of the others seem to suggests the other sets possibly don't have the bigger sockets. Suppose it couldn't hurt reserving 2 different ones separately, getting the 68 piece set first, opening up and checking, then if what you want isn't there getting a refund and going for something else.

Is the 107 piece set not the same quality as the others? I'm after a set but still unsure what to get, bigger the better - but good quality

Did you get the 107 piece? Any good? Thanks

THe 107 piece set is fine. It includes longer sockets that the other sets do not. What is does NOT include however is any universal joints (the flexible attachments). So if you want those go for the 68 piece set.
