Cash genie

Hi,

We took out a payday loan with cash genie a couple of weeks ago. They were supposed to take payment on Friday but they didn't. I have checked my bank and they payment isn't even showing as coming off the available balance. I have checked on their website and it's showing as:

Loan Applied For On 1 Nov 2013
Status: Awaiting Documents (Card)
Loan Amount: £100.00
Interest: £30.00
Charges: £0.00
Total to Repay: £130.00
Repaid: £0.00
Balance: £0.00
Due on: 15 Nov 2013

I sent them my card details by e-mail rather than uploading them to the site.

I'm just worried about them putting extra interest charges on when they realise. I also want them to take the payment while I can afford it.

Any advice?

Tracy.

So phone them and make payment. Or are you hoping we'll tell you that they've made a mistake, won't notice and you're quids in? :)

As others have said ring then up and check.

Email isn't a secure form of communication so it might be worth cancelling your card as well and getting your bank to reissue one just in case.
  • I take it you did actually get the £100? If so I'm rather surprised, if they didn't have your card details.
  • It was an extremely stupid thing to do to send your card details by email, and if you have also included the last three digits of your security number on the rear of your card, then you have compromised your card completely.

Anyone with access to the computer that received your email will now have access to your details. Maybe that's why the money hasn't gone out. Someone could be planning to really empty your account.

Ring your bank, tell them what you have done, and cancel the card immediately.

Loan companies, banks, etc, have secured sites with HTPPS for a reason, and you have just blown a great big hole in your own security. By doing this, you will also be liable for any loss on your account as you have given out your card details in a non-secured way.

It's like giving your pin number out on Facebook.

Is this not a good idea then - damn, better go and update my status message.

Should I also change my profile pic from the front and back of my debit card?
  • Thanks guys,

Have phoned the bank to cancel my card, thank you for bringing this to my attention. Have also phoned the company who said that the loan hadn't been put on the system because I emailed the copy of my card rather than doing it online. I've explained about having to cancel my card so I'm going to send them a cheque and they've not added any extra interest because it was their mistake that they didn't take payment.
