Crystallised ginger

Was in ASDA today and purchased 200g bags of crystallised ginger for £1.
The brand is 'Natural Selection' (which I have previously bought in Aldi)
200g would set me back £2.50 in Mr S.
It is really moist and warm - will be using it to make my own plain chocolate cover gingers.

Asda does seem to be a good shop, quite cheap for the quality of goods.
Just wondering what's the difference between plain ginger and crystallized? Is it just that it's better for making biscuits? I've made cake with ginger in before but i used fresh ground ginger...0 -
crystalised is in sugar so is sweeter, you chop it up small usually to add to biscuits etc and it gives an extra little kick flavour wise. i would reduce the ground ginger and add some chopped up crystalised for a biscuit recipe or muffin recipe.
Asda also have dried cranberries in the same range fyi for any seasonal baking!Car Boot Queen!!
Clothes Golden Rule: Never pay full price unless it is an utter bargain in the first place!
Sales, boots, charity shops, ebay- why would anyone ever pay full price for anything??!0 -
This product is currently on ASDA's website for 50p / 200g.
