One thing I would say to the OP is just be 100% honest and truthful about EVERYTHING.... even if that means you get an IPA.

Remember if the OR thinks you have been dishonest they can keep your BR going for upto 15 years.

I know a guy who is BR and has been for 3 years now and doesn't know when he will be discharged due to a very small lie.
  • We included everything in our housekeeping for our SOA (including alcohol etc, we don't smoke) and kept getting told by various people to increase our housekeeping because it was too low. Settled on £495 a month for two adults and a child in then end and that was accepted by the OR.

I was convinced it would be considered too much - probably explains why we struggled previously because we were underestimating what we actually needed (we'd been living within our means for a couple of years before we went bankrupt - our bankruptcy was for old debts and outstanding mortgage on a repossessed house that we'd never be able to pay back)

    Hi

    Good post

The point you make on struggling previously / underestimating what we actually needed is a very good one.

The idea with B/R is a genuine fresh start with reasonable living costs.

Going B/R is not a punishment to learn people how to manage their money better.

No debt solution should be classed as a punishment as far as managing finances are concerned, that's not the idea.

Becoming insolvent can be caused by many different reasons, including unforseen life changing situations.

    My take
