Update says not banned, merely temporarily disabled, which I would have thought would be the case anyway given it requires a day one download to activate the console. Simple idea would have been for Microsoft to put a time lock on the file either on their end so as to avoid it being downloaded early or in the software itself. (which by now would no doubt have been cracked anyway)

No visible warning as far as I could see, merely one on the day one editions reminding purchasers that the FIFA is a download from Xbox Live requiring 13gb (if my memory is right) and that your ISP may charge you for data used. However if you buy from a reputable retailer you will be warned of the much advertised 300mb day one update. I would suspect if you buy from a reputable but idiotic (read supermarket) retailer you'll no doubt see a sign somewhere reminding you of said download.

But how would people without Internet read your warning?

lol, good point. just those who access it at the local library i guess. i was really just venting as they assume people will be able to connect it to the net. not all people can and they may not realise they need to when they buy it.

Its been reported since as far back as June that the Xbox one only needs a 'one time internet' connection when it is first set up. After which games can be played off line..

Even with the xbox 360 system updates could be downloaded to disk \ usb and installed on consoles that do not have an internet connection.

How many people (as a %) actually fall into this category of Next Gen Gamers who don't have internet at home and able to complete a one off reg..

i think people are only familiar with the requirement if they are people who take notice of gaming news. alot of mummies and daddies wont fall into that category. also i think the number without the net is probably more than you might think.

It was originally going to be once every 24 hours I think but like the whole restriction on games thing, looks like they've changed their minds.

Personally the game restrictions would've made it a no go for me. And despite them changing it, the fact they wanted to do it in the first place (and only changed it because consumers were saying they wouldn't buy one because of it) still puts me off buying an xbox one.

As does the fact that I have to accept any change of terms they make in order to use the console or play any games - and I find that part the most ironic of all given that it would likely be deemed unfair by uk courts since it has the effect of binding consumers to terms they had no real knowledge/awareness of at the time of sale. If you want to connect to live, then fair enough as they are providing a continuing service. But you also have to accept them even to play offline.

Anyone else noticed or annoyed by this? Or is it just me being grumbly? :rotfl:
