Hey guys, hope all the christmas shopping and planning is going well.
I am trying to get a few "foodie" bits for my OH to go into his stocking/hamper ( still haven't decided which one it will be yet
). I already have a few pieces, such as a chilli plant, some nando's sauces, nice chocolate, a cook book he wanted ( the new Tom kerridges proper pub food) and then im sort of stumped. I have seen some of the retro marmite things in b&m and home bargains, so might go and pick some of those up.
Any suggestions on what else I can put in there? I am sort of reluctant to but any HM preserves, chutneys or the like in because I have made them for other people, so there is always some spare in the cupboard anyway.
He has travelled a lot when he was younger, so likes worldly flavours and ingredients and what not.
The budget to finish it off is about 30. So any ideas that you have would be most appreciated.
I know you guys are amazing, and will of course come up with some cracking ideas!
TIA guys!

I would have a look around bhs for ideas, they have lots of foodie gifts. For example they sell them chilli infused oils, which I'm sure could be made a lot cheaper?
The ketchup, brown sauce baked beans sets are quite different too.
Another idea is to pick one of the recipes from the book that he'd like and put all the ingredients in, such as any spices, oils, etc. so hes all set up to make it (esp if you have any extras in the fridge anyhow, such as the meats etc)Mummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -
Try BHS they have good foodie gifts especially when they start reducing them in December but have a google to see if you have any chinese supermarkets or other ethnic food shops near you. They often sell interesting things much cheaper than the high street. Also check out B&M you occasionally get oils, sauces and dips etc2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback

Some Umami paste? Mr T's sells it - No5 I think it's called.Over futile odds

How about gourmet popcorn?
Bacon Jam is a good quirky foodie gift (you could even make your own, there's lots of recipes online)
I think the Chinese supermarket is a great idea, you could pick up all sorts of unusual stuff much more cheaply than in a specialty shop.
Hotel Chocolat do things like pasta made with cocoa (somewhere else might do it cheaper?)
If he likes spicy things, there's lots of different hot sauces which make fun gifts.
A decent balsamic vinegar? They do small gift packs of different types in some places.
Or how about small kitchen accessories, if he likes to cook? Like a meat thermometer for making the perfect roast, or a chef's blowtorch for fancy desserts.0 -
As a foodie I LOVE getting bits and bobs to feed my obsession.
I'd check out the gourmet bit in Sainsburys - there are generally bits there that you would normally never buy in your general shopping that are fab - truffle oil, vanilla beans, various exotic bits and bobs, etc - and the packaging is usually lovely.
Alternatively I'd like one good thing in my kitchen each year and there are always kitchen gadgets that are useful/gorgeous. This year I'd quite like a meat and/or sugar thermometer, a decent mezzaluna, a salt pig.......actually I could go on and on.
I hope he enjoys whatever you get him xComps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%

how about something food related but not food, i.e a little pestle and mortar or maybe a nice set of salt and pepper with some unusual salt/pepper in them?0

Multipacks of plastic cutlery! Having half a dozen knives, forks and spoons in the car has been a god send at times!0

Seeing as Umami paste has already been suggested how about Truffle oil
and if its a big stocking one of these:0 -
Maybe check out some of those retro sweets stores... They often stock things from around the world too, so you might find something interesting0
