Name change by deed poll after BC?

Is this possiable? Part of me assume it is not hence asking the question... But then again it must be possiable if you got married so maybe?
(No malicious devious reasons for this just want the same name as my daughter.. Superficial but true!)

    Hi there

There's nothing I know of in the bankruptcy legislation that would hamper your right to change your name before, during or after BR. One thing that you cannot do is trade under a different name during BR to that which you used prior to the petition, unless you disclose the previous trading name at the same time, but that is more pertinent for sole traders and partnerships.

If you did change your name before discharge from BR, it would be appropriate to let the Official Receiver know.

I'm not an expert but I believe that if you change your name for any reason then your previous name would still show as an 'alias' on your credit file, so you would still be linked with the BR in your previous name. Hope that helps

    Hi emlarbs

Yes that's very useful to point out - your credit file will show any different names or aliases you have been known by, at least from the past 6 years. This is to ensure that all the information pulled together on that credit report is as comprehensive as possible.

Looking at your post on another thread, it seems you have learnt this from personal experience! :-)
