Christmas girls night in kits

I have 2 nieces who are 15 and 13. I'm thinking about making up girls night in kits for their Christmas gifts. So far I've thought of a DVD, popcorn, large bar of chocolate and face mask. Any ideas what else to put in? Trying to keep it as low budget as possible.

They're quite "grown up" for their ages but not especially academic if you know what I mean. They wear loads of make-up and the 13 year old has been since she was 10, get their hair professionally coloured and wear designer clothes but have no idea about current events (one of them asked me if Europe was part of Britain).

My mum will be getting them (and everyone else in the family) PJs and as a rocker, I don't think I can bear to buy them CDs with Rihanna and X factor winners on. Also they have iphones and ipods so I presume they buy music through itunes.

Nail varnish stuff is a good idea. Might try to find some fun, glittery ones, or do you think that's too babyish?

I was a very different 13-15 year old than them.

Glittery would probably be fine, they are very in right now.
  • Nail varnish/nail art glitter/emery boards/fake nails
Maybe you could find a book about makeovers?
Age appropriate magazine (not really sure what's cool for teens now)
    Cake mix and sprinkles
    Bath bombs
    Mini perfumes or samples
Costume jewelry (look on amazon, they have some necklaces and bracelets for about a pound including postage - probably take a while to come but you've got plenty of time)
    Slipper socks
    Lip gloss
    Hairbrushes, bobbles, hair spray, clips
A card game like uno or a girly version of top trumps

Edit: in home bargains the other day they had cheap sets of crackle nail varnishes, magnetic nail varnishes, and the ones with glitter dust. All cool at the moment - don't know whether they are very good quality or not though.

Glittery nail varnish doesn't sound babyish, but you could try a set which includes a normal finish too.

You could get them a Rock CD too and introduce them to good music ;) they might like rocking about to Def Leppard and Bon Jovi LOL.
  • I think it sounds like a great idea for them, and I agree with the previous poster with nail varnish and eye masks.

How about some slippers, candyfloss & sweets, make up, maybe some pamper treats such as body lotions, exfoliators & moisturisers etc... You could get some of the mini ones available in Boots/Superdrug. These are often on 3 for 2 but you can get good brands which wouldn't cost too much for yourself. Hope this helps :)

some great ideas there. I also found a recipe for a peppermint candy cane sugar scrub which should be quite cheap to make so might give that a go.

  • Totally agree with the nail varnish ideas - poundland have some great ones at the moment - you can get OPI crackling top coat in there (these are usually very expensive!) How about a non-alcoholic bottle of fizz? You can get some good alcohol free champagne imitations - may be good for a girlie night in?
