Mortgage valuation results first direct

Hi all
I am a FTB and have applied for a mortgage with first direct - the mortgage is approved subject to valuation, which is booked for Tuesday.
Anyone have an experience of how long it takes to get the results/ ok from the valuation?
Will I get a text, or will the first I hear (if all ok) is the mortgage offer?
I've read so much about problems with down valuations so have decided to wait for the outcome of the lenders mortgage valuation before arranging and paying for my own survey.
