Problems with Tax

Hi I work for single resource at centresoft minworth site. I was on emergency code for tax then that got rectified and put on right tax code of 944L. I then had four weeks of no work. Did however book some holiday during that time. Now Im back at work again I have been put on emergency code. I have been in touch with the tax office but they said I can't change anything till 16th December. I am hoping it gets sorted sooner than that because Im not too sure whether I will have any work then. Hopefully I will or it will get sorted before then. Is there anything that can be done to hurry it up before the 16th December. My On site consultant told me to telephone tax office to sort it. I could do with it being done asap as the extra money that take as emergency tax would come in handy. Any suggestions anybody please. Many Thanks

To understand exactly what is happening you need to give full details of earnings and tax codes used along with tax basis which usually shows after the tax code. Also needed are details of when started and what forms used at start ie P45 P46 or the new starter checklist as now called.
At the moment your reference to emergency tax makes no sense as emergency tax is actually 944L which you say you were then put on, I suspect that you are referring to 0T or perhaps BR.0 -
Yes I was put on OT first then 944L when rectified then now on BR. I need ton be on 944L so that I pay the right amount of tax. I filled out a P46 when I started back in august and have sent a P45 filled out with new employer details which was posted yesterday. I could do with this been rectified before 16th December as the money would come in handy that they are taking as emergency tax.0

I never had any problem when I worked for the company last year for 16 straight weeks and then odd days between january and may which sometimes would have six weeks between them and was still on the right tax code.0

I cant understand why they changed it when they had it right. I hope to get this sorted sooner rather than later. I need the money and have rightly earned it. Would it help if I sent off a couple of payslips to the tax office so this can be dealt with promptly?0

You'll get a much quicker response from the tax office if you phone them. Writing takes them at least 4 weeks to answer. If you call and they agree with what you say they will send a coding letter to the employer. That's all the tax office can do.0

First the 0T code I suspect was used as payroll had not received your P46 at that point. The 944L is almost certainly the emergency tax code used as a result of receiving the P46 declaration. This would suggest that the BR tax code came from the tax office, check this with payroll if it is the case it came from tax office then will have to be sorted with them.
Who did you post the P45 to?0 -
I sent the P45 to hmrc as requested by them. If what your saying is correct I will now have to wait till the 16th December to change my code back to 944L. I just hope I still have work off the agency then. I did send a note with P45 asking them to sort it for me asap. The 944L tax code is the one I want to be put on. I hate all this hassle and could do with the money. As I say it's only since I started back with agency in august I've had this problem. Never had any problems last year or earlier on this year.0

I have asked them to send another coding notice to the employer. One lady says they will. I just want this sorted and get the tax back asap.0

Can I phone again on thursday friday or saturday. Only one of these obviously and ask them a notice of coding(944L) to my employer single resource to rectify it. I could do with the money that Ive earned and am entitled to it.0

I will phone tax office on Thursday again and ask them to a notice of coding with 944L on to my employer single resource. That should then get it sorted.0
