Oh and for the info or those money/weight savers.
I am eating
1 x Bowl of Bran Flakes
1 x Salad (consisting of 1 x slice ham, 1/2 boiled egg, 4 boiled new potatoes, lettuace, peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumber)
1 x apple
1 x pear
2 x satsuma
1 x kiwi
Total cost per day around £1.80 (all shopped at ALDI)0 -
That's quite a lot to spend, you could eat 3 meals a day for cheaper than that by cooking from scratch. A great blog I adore is http://agirlcalledjack.com/ she makes dinners for 9p, snacks for pennies and shes saved me a fortune. The recipes are great too, really filling and tasty, I highly recommended it....and to start shopping at Tesco/sainsburys for their value/basic range- much cheaper than aldi.2025 Mortgage start £378K 2025 Overpayment £103 Savings Challenge 2025 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**0

Please make sure that you eat more than that. I understand that money is tight, but your health and wellbeing comes first.
In your list there is not hot food at all. How about buying some value porridge (79p for 1k in tesco), that way you at least get a hot breakfast.
You'll find other great recipes on the Oldstyle board.0 -
They are good but I don't want to eat crap, as I am actually trying to lose weight as well, so I am eating almost all fresh stuff. I disagree about the basic ranges, for fresh fruit ALDI is almost always cheaper and nothing ever beats their super 6. But I will have a look just in case I am wrong.. Thanks for the info though.0

I agree about the fresh produce, sometimes it is cheaper at aldi but for everyday thing Tesco/sains wins.
its not crap stuff, all homemade using fresh ingredients/chickpeas/lentils ect. You'll still lose weight doing it but you're not eating enough for your body to maintain that sort of weight loss. Best of luck with it though.2025 Mortgage start £378K 2025 Overpayment £103 Savings Challenge 2025 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**0 -

I have some porridge as emergency rations, I think I should have made clear in my first post rather than alarm people. I am trying to lose weight as well, just that the money situation is helping facilitate that

I hear what you are saying, I'm not planning on doing it for long. Will start buying nuts and stuff soon as well as heartier things. But whilst it is before the end of the month for pay, I will have to wait. I won't do it for any longer than 2 weeks.0 -

I don't think that this is sustainable, either as a form of weight loss or as a form of money saving. The temperature is getting colder so you will feel the heat even more if you are eating as little as you say you are.
You just need 3 healthy meals a day, all of which can be done on a budget.
I am trying not to moan at you, but i am starting to sound like my mother! I am just concerned, that's all. Nobody should be eating that little, especially when it's cold.0 -
Thanks. I won't be doing it for much longer. I have got some treats for if I really start to feel the hunger though. On the 25th I will really tone it down a little. I am sticking to cutting out meat and bread though. I think it is getting a little harder to cook the right meals on a budget because more people are doing it these days and the supermarkets are getting wise and increasing the prices of the items usually used in this type of eating. Tinned vegatble are still one of my favourites as they seem to have stayed very cheap. But pasta's and rices have definatly gone up in price.0

I agree with you on the price rises - Tesco everyday value is a brilliant range but for example their chicken or curry noodles used to be 11p a pack and have now gone up to 20p, which is proportionally a huge rise! I also love their value rich tea biscuits but they went up quite sharply as well. Still great though!£10 a day extra in May '18[B]£35/310[
