This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning All
Congrats to JulieG & family on the birth of Daisy.
Life still a little manic, not got back organised yet. Yesterday after a trip to the hairdressers to lose my "Twinkalies" as she so nicely puts it, went and collected DGNeice & Nephew. After a mad half hour or so on the field with Skye, with them and her running around madly, came back and I had put a batch if white bread dough in the BM which was ready, so they had a good time trying to knead and shape it into various shapes, DGNeice12 was quite good and did plaits and twists, and a ghost!, DGNephew4 just bashed the dough around a lot, but bread doesn't seem to mind. I made him a headgehog, and he made a "monster with current eyes" , plus various other shapes. Once cooked he had two slices with butter off his hedgehog, and when we took them home, they took the majority with them, and he started eating some more then. Was lovely to see them again I had missed them while we were away. Then got a phone call last night from caravanning friends in Hull, and they are coming over today for a catch up, maybe a bit of shopping, and due to late notice, lunch out!!:o:D
Like you Jackie-0. Freezers rather full, think I need todo a new cupboard & freezer list and set you lot loose on it.
DH hoovered through yesterday while I was at the hairdressers, so will have a quick tidy up DH wakes up, this may be a collect "flutters" from lounge &'kitchen and put in spare room.:o while DH cleans bathroom.
Unusually I am awake early, but struggling with my left leg, Dr thinks it muscular, and I have pulled it somehow, but the walk on the field does not appear to have helped, so painkillers took, and it is easing now. Old age & Insanity comes to mind.
Take care everyone, ((hugs )), Spoons & Positive Vibes all round. DG

Good Morning Donny and Gonzo and All Who Follow xxx
Busy already with three kids off to work before 6am. My kids are more reliable than a 40 year who has been out clubbing 3 weeks in a row and cant make it in! (Their colleague).
Got to try and have a tidy up and sort out today. Christmas presents need to go in loft and have shopping to sort when it comes into 3 piles - Mum, DD and us. Then over to mums to deliver shopping and taking DD back to uni later with her shopping and other bits.
Hugs for a good OS day xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Good Morning all,and a chilly start here in the Garden of England.
Eldest DD will be here this morning for her weekly 'coffee fest' and strangled eggs:) She says its the one part of her busy week she looks forward to as she gets waited on hand and foot and supplied with as much coffee as she can drink from my seemingly bottomless coffee pot:):) She loves my 'strangled eggs with crackerbread for her late breakfast as well. She has no phone or Oh or kids asking her to do/wash /find things for them she reverts back to being a daughter and being spoilt for an hour by her old Mum
:):)
I had a nice day with my friend and her twin grandchildren are growing by the day, absolutely scrummy and very cuddly. At almost two months they are just starting to take notice of things and gummy smiles abound:):)
I have made another appointment to see the dentist on Monday as the stitches still haven't fallen out and I'm getting quite a bit of pain from the empty tooth site and sensitivity from ajoining teeth. My bottom lip is also still numb which shouldn't be after 10 days !!! Hopefully the dentist will sort it all out.
I'll probably make the boys their favourite Victoria Jam sponge to take with me this afternoon when I go round to dinner. Its amazing what four young boys can do to make a cake vanish so quickly:):)
Right time for a cuppa I think Hope you all have a great day whatever you are doing
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -
HH. Thanks for the heads up on the Minion Hats, both DGN's liked them and the little one asked if I could make one and sent it to Santa for him
The 11 year old wants one too, so need to find some Lemon wool, I have to make him a one eyed one, and her a one eyed one with a bow, which was a crochet pattern, so that is faster still.
Hope the blood helped you Molly, you sound a little brighter.
Jackie. Hope you get your teeth/mouth sorted, it should. It be numb now.

Firstly, congratulations to JuliaGeorgina, I missed your news. Such a pretty name.
I hope Bob takes notice and decides to make a timely appearance too, unlike Frog who stayed out for 2 extra weeks!
Frog was awake early today, 6.30I've got used to the 7am wake up calls, such a luxury!!
We are mooching down to town this morning to go to the farmers market and then perhaps the playground depending on how grumpy / ready Frog is for her nap. We also need to pick up a chicken and some greens for dinner tonight.
I might also try to get the second christmas cake in the oven today ... not sure if I'll manage it but it's good to have a plan isn't it
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday, hugs all round and get well vibes to those that could do with them!! xxWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -

DG, glade to help.
No meal out for us after all today, BIL & GF have split up, 3rd time in 12 weeks, the phrase 'Grow Up' comes to mind, I told hubby it will be spag bol for dinner then as I don't have a joint in the freezer, he's perfectly happy with that, I shall make cottage pie at the same time to save cooking one day next week.
Hubby came in bladdered last night, I know this as when he came in through the front door & found me stood there waiting for him he shushed me, forgetting that it was him who was trying to be quiet so as not to disturb me! As he was walking & talking & never gets nasty I don't mind.
I have an asda delivery tomorrow after work, using up a money off voucher.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone,
Sistercas Happy birthday, hope that you have a lovely day.
JulieG Many congratulations, and what a beautiful name.
Icey77 Be patient, Bob will arrive when he is good and ready!
Had a bit of a disturbed night last night due to OH snoring and DS coming in at 1 30am. To his credit he is really quiet but I still find that I can't settle properly until I know that he is in even though he is 17!
Been to church this morning. The vicar has changed all the services round and now I go to communion at 9am and my girls go to the modern service at 10 30. I would really like us all to attend together but I can't sit through a jingly jangly service and the girls don't want to be up for 9 am. It was much better before he changed it.
I am home alone for a while now as OH has taken DS out for a ju jitsu grading so I better do a bit of tidying up.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Good morning everyone
A very Happy Birthday to SisterCas, I hope you have a lovely day :bdaycake:
Late one from me as have been busy since I got up at 7:30. Bathroom is sparkling, hall and stairs and landings are hovered. "New" car is now insured on our insurance, have cleaned GDD's booster seat and car mats ready to go in and moved some CDs in to make it feel more like our car.
Second lot of washing is about to finish and earlier load of towels and bath mats are in the tumble drier. Am trying not to look at the smart meter gauge and panic
Off for a shower, then to DDs to show her and GDD the car. We were supposed to go yesterday but DD's social life got in the way!
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin
