Can you recommend a football game for the Wii

Options
Hi,

I would like to buy my 11 year old son a football game for the Wii for xmas, he has played on a 'football manager' game at a friends house on xbox and would like something similar (he would actually like an xbox for xmas!, but I have already bought his main present, so unfortunately no xbox just yet!.........maybe his birthday next year)

There are no football manager games out for the Wii only Pro Evolution Soccer & FIFA (well, there's also Academy of Champions or something like that, but it's so poor it's barely worth mentioning!). FIFA 14 came out on Wii, but is largely the same game as previous FIFA's on the console with updated kits/squads. Pro Evo 13 is the last game of that series to come out.

I'd go for Fifa 13 on the Wii. Fifa 14 is not really worth it, is basically the same as Fifa 14, and you can pick up 13 fairly cheaply. Having said that, he might be happier having the latest version, and games are generally cheaper on the Wii.

The Fifa games have a career mode, where you can be a manager of a team (buy sell players, organise tactics, get sacked etc.) or player career - play as a new player, working your way up the ranks to becoming an international player. In the manager mode, you can choose to play each match or simulate them. Basically, it has all the features of a manager game and has players and clubs from the real world. On top of that you can choose to play online against real players around the world, or multiplayer if you are offline in your own house. Pro Evo is usually slightly better game play, but doesn't have all the officially licensed clubs and players. Purists might say Pro Evo is the better football game, but to me, Fifa has the best overall package due to its FifPro license. Either way, he won't be disappointed.
