    Unless you suddenly decide you need to amend your mortgage offer, Halifax will have no reason just to randomly re credit check you.

    So they'll probably never know there's been a slight change to your circumstances.

    If for any reason they did happen to notice, probably the worst that could happen is that they'd ask for proof that the old commitment has finished.

    It's usually a good idea not to take on new credit commitments until the mortgage has completed, but in this case there's hardly any impact at all, in fact a slight improvement.

    Nationwide performed another credit search on us three days before we completed.

    Any lender may well ask why, but would have thought as there is no impact to your affordability then that is fine.

    The concern is the credit score. If the new application for credit has impacted on the score to the point of making it fail the new check then there is a danger of the offer being withdrawn.

    If it passes score and is reassessed then assuming one payment has replaced another then you would get a chance to explain this.
