Bad credit Mortgage Application Query

Hi all.
Myself & my partner are currently in the process of selling our house. The house is in my girlfriends name.
We are unsure about whether I can go onto the next mortgage. I have a bad credit rating because I was stupid when younger (as you do!). My girlfriend has got excellent credit rating.
I earn £32k per year, and my g/f £28k, and we have 2 children together.
At the moment we have enquired about a single mortgage application in her name only, and she is allowed a mortgage of £124k.
We would obviously like to get more, but are unsure if we would be able to if we did a joint application, because of my awful credit rating.
Does anyone know if a joint application would be a hindrance to the amount we could borrow?
Thanks
Darren & Kay

Hi, may be easier to start from the top with your ideal situation and then we can assess a bit further.
In an ideal world, what purchase price would you want to apply for?
What deposit will you have?
You will need at least 1, but much better for all 3 of Experian, Equifax and Call Credit reports. You can then determine how bad, bad is.
Specifically you are looking at defaults, CCJ's and importantly the date and amount registered.I am a Mortgage Broker
