Wine making kits

I want to buy my Dad one of these preferably a red as he likes to drink Scicilian red wines. Does anyone know where to be good quality kits or should I avoid these? Any advice would be great. Thanks

I would strongly recommend finding your local home brew shop and paying them a visit - they will be able to offer plenty of good advice.
If you can't get to a shop in person, then I have been really pleased with the service I have received from 2 online sellers recently, ballihoo and brewsmarter - both should be able to advise on a good starter kit and equipment.
Don't be tempted to skimp on the first kit of ingredients, the better quality kits will produce a good, commercial quality wine, some of the cheaper kits produce plain nasty results and will put your dad off ever trying again.

Perhaps if you post whereabouts in the country you live, someone will be able to recommend a local shop?

I live in Wrexham, north Wales. I don't think there are any by me but I would travel if anyone knows of any reasonably close.

Well, Chester Homebrew can't be a million miles away from you, and Google suggests that there certainly used to be a well regarded shop in Wrexham called "Jolly Brewer" though it's not clear if it's still a going concern or not...
