Plumber won't give me receipt

I had some work done - a whole new central heating system installed. I have the quote in electronic form, and after the job was completed I paid the company via BACS transfer, however I never received a receipt.

I texted the plumber directly, who's company it is, and asked him to ask his admin staff to give me one. He said he would. I didn't get one so i emailed the office and asked them again. I still didn't get one. So I text the plumber directly again and said this is the 3rd time I have asked can you send me a receipt please. The plumber replied yes and that he would ask a different member of staff. I still haven't received the receipt.


I'm not too concerned, as luckily I paid via BACS so I have the proof that I have paid on my bank statement. However, I really need a receipt. I do not understand how hard it is!


Any suggestions on how I can force them to do this?

  • What should concern you more is that if it's this difficult to get a receipt, how are you gonna fair if you actually need them to do a repair within their warrentee period !!

    I would be concerned as to whether he has registered it for the guarantee and with Gas Safe.Within a reasonable time of the installation,the relevant paperwork should be received.

    Did he complete the Benchmark documentation and get you to sign when commissioned? Has the warranty actually been registered with the manufacturer?
    Why are you so desperate for a receipt if you have proof of payment?
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
