What colour tinsel?

I know I know, some love tinsel and some hate.
The OH is in the 'love' camp.

I had the colour scheme all worked out, white tree, white fireplace garland with white snowflakes on the windows. Warm white lights everywhere and purple and gold baubles on the tree along with a purple ribbon garland and gold bead chains, and purple and gold cushions on the sofa atop a big white throw.

Trouble is OH wanted silver baubles as well as tinsel of some sort. But I can't work out what colour tinsel would go with gold/purple/silver on a white tree. Presumably it'd be one of those colours, but which would look nicest do you think?

I use narrow purple tinsel on my white tree. Spiralling round all the way up the tree. I have baubles of pretty much every colour on it. It looks quite nice, I think!

My colour scheme on my tree is purple and gold. I don't have tinsel on my tree, but I do have it around my big mirror on the chimney breast. Its a mock-antique one and really big, I tried gold but it looked quite gaudy, but the purple looked lovely, more subtle

I don't like tinsel ( I do like lametta though & that's another love it or hate it thing ) but I think a gold one would go nice with your colour scheme, especially as you've already got purple garland .

If you cant decide - have purple AND gold tinsel You can never have too much decoration on a tree!

Purple and/or Gold .. but you should be telling him to stop demanding to be honest. He can decorate next year but this year he should mind his own :rotfl:

I went with both as advised. Not very MSE as the ones he wanted cost about 20 quid. It'd better last a while!
