The last few miles are always up hill

Hi,

I thought I'd start a new debt diary to help me with the last £10k of my debt.

I had my first light bulb moment back in 2007 when I could barely make ends meet. I was so stressed and just looking at my finances made me want to cry. I was in a low paid adminion job, had a partner who rather than helping, encouraged me to spend money and then chastised me for being in debt. It was a rather sorry state of affairs.

As it stands now, I've managed to clear half my debt and through tricks learned through MSE I've managed to reduce my apr to almost nothing.
I'm sure I would have got further along my journey to zero debt but I've hit a few speed bumps allong the way, most of which were out of my control so I'm not about to beat myself up too much and as I currently have a lovely little home, a nice little car and a good job, I don't really have too much to complain about (I'm not saying I won't complain... just that I'm aware that it's unjustified lol)

Now that I am nearing the end of my journey my inspiration for a last massive push is the desire to remove the shared ownership millstone that had begun to weight heavy. Don't get me wrong, I love my little flat but I can't get away from the housing association quick enough.

So at the end of this year I will hit the £10k. I'm hoping to keep this diary going while I try to work out how to hit zero by the end of next year.

Wish me luck!!!

  • Hi Amatheya81

You sound fantastically motivated and I will be subscribing to your diary to keep me motivated also.

Best of luck with the last 10k push. Have you done a Snowball Calculator to tell you when your Debt free date may be??

    xxx
