I am sick of all the junk that seems to be given at christmas, I have draws full of odds and sods that i have been given over several years and will never use! And do not get me started on the packaging waste!

Any ideas for green christmas presents?

Well go with Martin's money mantra of 'ban unnecessary Christmas Presents'

And for your family and friends you have to buy for, ask what they want, if you know what they want then nothing will be wasted.

Also chocolate/booze is always a winner if you're unsure.

Unless you have to buy for my Mum who does not drink or eat chocolates!
  • Thanks Simon - got excited but then had a look and found candles / cup holders!! I have so many scented candles from previous christmases and innovative tools for doing xyz - they all now languish in my cupboard!

At least chocolate gets eaten - but still the christmas packaging around choloate is pretty excessive!!!

Perhaps i should recycle the old candles and give those back to the people that gave them to me!
  • Not too sure about green gifts. But I once got a charity gift. Someone gave a goat to me. Well in reality they gave a goat to an african family on my behalf. I got a picture and everything.

We do a secret santa for the adults in the family which cuts back on expense and packaging. How about some nice plants or bulbs they give pleasure for years or some home baked goodies. You don't have to join in the madness.
    Slightly bitter
  • After some considerable searching i have found two things i love and will be buying as green christmas presents...

elvisandkresse.com/about/ - wallet each for my two son!

abundancegeneration.com/giftshop/ - a bit of a solar farm for my grandkids!
