  • Forgot to say that Bookcrossing can be great fun, there is also bookmooch and readitswapit. A few of our local pubs also set up library corners. Bring one, take one kind of style x

  • Way back when amazon only really sold books I used to do well, but then along came the mega listers who list anything for 1p or use FBA to sell for less than 1p. So I had to stop selling books. Have many 1st editions in good order, but then Royal mail re did postage and stopped it even further. Sadly most books donated to Charity shops now get pulped via a big collection bin in the back of the shop now. Same goes for Videos/DVD's and CD's in fact most media items get destroyed. Also the people who buy kindles etc have largely destroyed the market for 2nd hand books even further. And the mess that the Amazon catalogue is in well don't get me started on that one!
I worked out that to make a profit on any hardback book - I need to list and sell it at minimum price of £2, which yields £3.10 with postage at £2.60 2nd class packet means you make 50p. Out of which you have to buy something to post it out in. So possibly 30p in total. And should you want to list on US site min is £8. No way to compete with the mega listers is there? But hey ho - I shall eventually put some back up again.

It's all changed and not for the better in this case :( Nothing like a real book in the hand!
