Dark chocolate. The best?

From time to time I get myself a shipping load of dark chocolate from montezuma but it does cost me an arm and a leg and it isn`t organic although it is fairly traded. I like dark because a couple of pieces is enough to satisfy the craving and this choc is very very nice
but is there is there a better value luxury brand. It doesn`t HAVE to be organic but it must be mouth-melting sumptuous otherwise its a few chomps and its down the hatch and I`ll be in danger of turning into a chocolate blob

Have you tried Lidl? They have a number of varieties of dark chocolate; just think, you could have great fun trying to find which was the best!0

I can definitely recommend the Green & Blacks. I have the one with cherries and 1 or 2 pieces just allowed to melt in the mouth is absolutely gorgeous and deffo satisfies my cravings.

I'm a Green and Black's fan too. Their milk chocolate is the best I've tasted.0

I don't think the brand matters that much - the %age of cocoa solids does; the higher the better. And look out for added unnecessary rubbish. It need only contain cocoa solids, sugar, lecithin & vanilla so try to avoid any that has lots of "other stuff".
The Lidl chocolate is excellent and very keenly priced. Waitrose own brand is good as is Lindt and Valhrona (sp?). Green & Blacks is often recommended, but too expensive for me as I only use dark chocolate for cooking :eek:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

This place has a huge variety, im not sure what the range is on prices though.
My dad loves dark chocolate and he says the divine 70% is excellent, im not sure about the ingredients though.
Theres also hotel chocolat but again will be fairly expensive0 -
i'd recommend the lidl brand.
they do different % of cocoa solids and also, different beans from places like ecuador, columbia and other countries....
about 89p for a regular sized bar.0 -
I love Green and Blacks Maya Gold, better still its vegan so I can use it to put on traybakes and stuff for my vegan friends.
My absolute favourite dark choc is Valrhona but at £3 for 100g it tends to be a birthday treat rather than a weekend indulgence0 -
Another lover of Green and Blacks, just for the flavour the fact it's organic etc just a bonus. I have to hide it as when I buy choccy a bar lasts me ages but DP would polish it off in minutes. One day I might be more organised...........

GC: £200
