Kilner Enamel Jam Pan ?

Hi all,

I've asked for a jam pan for xmas from the in-laws and I think I have settled on this one as my preferred. I wondered if anyone on here has this model and can 'review' it for me?

The reasons I've chosen this one:
  • I tried it in the shop and it's nice and heavy
  • Kilner is a name I know and trust
  • It's red so it looks pretty!

I'm just a bit concerned as it's enamel and I don't know if it would be a problem if I burned something in it as I can't use brillo pads or similar to scrub it out?

I had a look at some of the alternatives but the stainless ones just don't have as much character as this little fellow!

Any opinions?

Thanks,

Kevin :)

I've just had a look on Lakeland & it is indeed very pretty - looks like JL do a kilner one too but darker red.

Mine is aluminium so i can't review yours, I'm afraid, but my enameled pie dishes have become very discoloured inside with use - doesn't bother me though but I suppose it could happen to the jam pan.

    Thank you :)

After looking, I think they are all the dark red colour but some of the pictures are a bit misleading (at least, that's what the reviews say).

I think they are black on the inside too so discoloration shouldn't be an issue.

I have an enamelled cast iron pot (like a le creuset) which I really love so that's one of the reasons I'm swinging towards the enamel...

I've burned my kilner stainless steel pan three times and had to scrub it with metal scourer....

Thans -taff. Is that because the pan is poor quality or because you have a habit of leaving it unattended? :D

  • I've burnt my stainless steel jam pan lots of times too and had to soak/scrub/fill with water and boil it back up to loosen the burnt stuff :D

I've also burnt my enamelled cast iron casseroles and had to scrub those and they have discoloured inside. It doesn't bother me though, it's a bit like a patina isn't it? Shows they're well loved :D

Love that pretty red jam pan.
